n our return from peripatetic food-and-wine ramblings throughout Europe and the world, we like nothing more than to have the time to enjoy preparing foods for family and friends in our own Devon kitchen. And why not? We are fortunate to live in a rich and fertile corner of the world that has an abundance of good things to eat and drink: fish and shellfish from Exmouth, Brixham and the cold Channel waters of our Westcountry coast; our own locally netted wild Exe salmon; rich and tangy dairy products, including real farmhouse cheddar and other cheeses, cream, clotted cream and farmhouse ice creams; organic meats -- such as flavourful lamb from Exmoor, Devon beef and superb freerange poultry; locally grown organic vegetables; even English wines, Devon "scrumpy" (hard apple cider), great locally and regionally brewed real ales; and much else too.
