Plants of Viñales: a pictorial guide - Peperomia magnoliifolia Epiphytic or ground growing herb, growing from rocks, ramose; straight stem more or less decumbent, succulent, radicant in lower nodes, green or reddish; flowering branches ascending, 10-30 cm long; internodes 1.5-3.5(-6) cm long; leaves alternate; petiole 1.5-4 cm long, sulcate in distal part, with elongated wings, green, sometimes with red patches; leaf-surface obovate-elliptic, almost round or spathe like, 4-4.6 cm long, 1.5-2.5 cm wide, fleshy, coriaceous, dark lustrous green on upperside, light green on underside, rounded or obtuse and emarginate, base elongated cuneiform; venation pinnate, with midrib underneath upper surface, prominent on underside, 3-4 pairs of lateral veins not visible close to midrib; spikes solitary, geminate or 3 together in panicle, terminal or opposite to leaf, 10-15 cm long, dense; peduncle with bracts, 1.5-3 cm long, oblique at apex, warty; rostrum about as long as fruit body, pointed, straight and inclined or slightly curved in centre; stigma in rostrum base.
