Plants of Viñales: a pictorial guide - Peperomia glabella Epiphytic or ground herb, saxicolous, stoloniferous, branching frequently, 15-20 cm high; stem up to 1 m high, radicant at base, green, reddish or lilac-green, densely spotted with glands; internodes glabrous, slightly ciliate in two decurrent lines; flowering branches erect; leaves alternate; petiole 0.5-1 cm long, ciliate in two decurrent lines; leaf-surface ovate, ovate-elliptic or elliptic-lanceolate, 1.5-4(-5.5) cm long, 0.8-2(-2.8) cm wide, papery, glabrous, dark green on upperside, light green on underside, pointed or shortly acuminate, cuneiform or obtuse base, margin ciliate towards apex; venation with 3-5 palmate veins; spikes solitary or 3 in panicle, terminal and in axils of higher flowers, 5-8(-12) cm long, geniculate, densely flowering; peduncle 1-1.5 cm long; floral bracts orbicular; fruit directly attached, ovoid, 0.8 mm long, verruculous, oblique at apex; stigma below apex.
