Virus safety - good
Description: Barebone public domain Linux codebase available in C, C++, and Java. Site contains the source code, documentation, snippets, and useful links.
Brian B. Graversen > SocketMUD(tm) SocketMUD(tm) is a bareboned mud codebase; it is written in C by Brian Graversen, and will compile and run under GNU/Linux with kernel 2.2.x or better. It requires the zlib development library, which comes with most major linux distributions, as well as support for POSIX threads (which should be no problem if you run linux 2.2.x or later). A few people have had some success trying SocketMUD(tm) under Cygwin, and a specific section of this site has been dedicated to patches and documentation for the Cygwin port. It is still recommended that you use a real Linux environment to run the code, but a Cygwin environment could easily be used for testing purposes.
