Stillwater Wrestling | Wrestling coverage for Stillwater High School and Junior High (Stillwater, OK) Last night the Pioneer Wrestling team traveled to Cushing, to face the 4A #2 ranked Tigers. The Dual ended up in our favor, yet had an unexpected set of hero’s, that finally turned the team score into our favor. With Jacob Fontanez out of the line up, at 120 lbs, due to illness, we knew we would be at a disadvantage. Add to that an upset of Benny Teegarden, at 126 lbs, and we were on the short end of the score board,going into our section of the line up, that usually does the damage for us. They all came through, but with three matches left to go, the victory was far from decided. Cj Citizen lost a close match with one of the Tigers’ best wrestlers, keeping them from adding bonus points to their score. Then Cyntrell Carden broke through to the win column, with a huge win over another Tiger standout. James Brower sealed the deal with a quick fall , at heavyweight, securing the Pioneers’ 11th win of the year. It was really nice to see those last three men come through for the rest of the team, and show that they too can be relied on to get the job done. The final score was 46-24, and sets us up for the old time Ponca vs Stillwater battle, on Thursday night, as we host the Wildcats for our Homecoming Dual.
