Nottsborough FC

03/03/14 Notsborough 1 West Wickham 0 Buoyed after sealing a place in the Cup Final last weekend, Nottsborough were keen to maintain their momentum in this match with our old friends from Corksrew Hill. The first half was a very cagey affair with both teams rather cancelling each other out; big tackles flew in but no one could really get their foot on the ball. Nottsborough’s main threat came from Dan Barber who delivered several tasty crosses towards front man Field and also made the keeper work with a powerful shot. Ross Newell and Rich Parker, who have been resurgent of late, also combined well but they were unable to create as much havoc as they have done in recent weeks. On the other flank, Tinkler and Matt Kerr adopted a less dynamic style but their composed passing did, on several occasions, almost unlock the West Wickham defence. It certainly was not all Nottsborough. Our visitors provided a threat and their forwards kept Sutcliffe and Cranston on their toes with some intelligent running and neat hold up play. As always, they were also backed up by combative and skilful midfielders; the West Wickham right sided player particularly impressed with his excellent dribbling.
