| Description: | Competitive Soccer Tryouts:TPSC coaches understand that tryouts can be stressful experiences and will do what they can to provide as much information as possible about the process to the players and parents.In general terms, tryouts consist of small sided games and large sided games observed by our coaching staff. Multiple coaches will observe players and use the assigned numbers to take notes and make selections.The players will be evaluated based on their performance at the tryout. Returning players are not given any special preference over new players at tryouts. Under 8 TPSC Developmental Program This program is available to any player (boy or girl) who is looking for a strong developmental soccer experience in the fall. We plan on forming separate Developmental Programs for boys and girls. Our Development Program will include players who are of comparable soccer ability, dedication and maturity. Only ability-appropriate players who demonstrate appropriate focus, coachability, and emotional readiness will be offered invitations to join. Developmental Program Players practice as a team twice per week during the fall season, and they play in the San Francisco Vikings Fall league or the NORCAL Fall league. TPSC’s professional coaching staff will run all Developmental Program Teams practices. Volunteer parent coaches will facilitate weekend games. Players who accept invitations to play in our Developmental Program will not register for or participate in TPSC’s open recreational program. Participation requirements: By invitation only after participation in play date. Play date takes place March 2nd, 3-5 PM at Redwood High SchoolSeason Calendar:- 6-8 optional practices during the Spring - 2 practices/week starting mid August through mid November- 8 to 10 league games between September and middle of November (Half in Tiburon and half away) Training: - 2 practices/week, which will be run by TPSC’s professional coaching staff. Games:- 8 to 10 league games from September to mid November. Volunteer parent coaches will facilitate games. Discuss how he/she should handle being asked to join the team and also discuss how he/she would feel if not invited. Each year there are kids who do not make teams. But it’s very common to see many of these players play House (Rec League), work on their game by attending the Club’s clinics, camps and by playing futsal in the winter. They then try out the following year and make the team. So although the tryouts can be stressful there are also a number of lifelong lessons that can be learned from the experience. Parental expectations and preparation can be a critical part of a child’s learning from the experience - whether or not he/she make a competitive team.2) The kids should prepare for the tryout by practicing; either on their own, with a parent or with the one of the Club coaches one of our Club Clinics.3) It is a good idea to watch some soccer on TV, Fox Soccer Channel shows a condensed highlights show of one of the top leagues in the world every Sunday at 6pm each Sunday.Tryout Rules Medical releases will be required to be signed by a parent--no release, no tryout, no exceptions! (Available above -"Tryout Release Form) Players must wear soccer cleats and shinguards, should wear a white shirt AND bring a water bottle...and a parent. [No team uniforms/logos] Players must attend at least one tryout. Attendance at all tyouts is highly encouraged. Parents will not be allowed on the field at any time.When will decisions be made? All players will be notified within approximately 72 hours of the last scheduled tryout in most cases. If your child is selected for a team, team meeting will be scheduled shortly after tryouts where you will be required to fill out a registration form and make a first club payment. The meeting agenda will include sizing of uniforms, player registration, and important club and team information. Consider the coach’s observations of what you need to work on. Participate in the TPSC Player Development Academy or TPSC Spring Academy or TPSC Summer Camps. Play on a Rec or Interleague team this year; enjoy your soccer; work hard with your coach and TPSC professional trainer to improve your skills. Most of all, have fun! Attend as many TPSC clinics during the year as you can. Attend soccer camps and clinics this summer; each week at soccer camp is equal to an ENTIRE SEASON of training!!! * The TPSC holds clinics and camps thoughout the year. * There are also several other summer day camp programs that operate locally in June and July. * There are also some great sleep-away camps throughout northern CA. Get a friend, get your brother or sister, or get your parent and kick a ball around every day. Practice juggling, kicking and dribbling.
