Drag Racing, Dragsters, Funny Cars and Drag Boats Since 1998 the largest drag racing history and photo site on the planet. For its first two decades drag racing was somewhat free of strict rules, corporate influence or formal protocol. Overall, drag racers were not politically correct - in fact, just the opposite. Most of the NHRA was made up of hard core racers, not wimpy accountants. There were no "cookie cutter" cars accompanied with hospitality rigs. The majority of us used open trailers and carried our spare parts in milk cartons. From the early 1950's through the 1970's the race cars were, for the most part, financed out of pocket and innovation was foremost and many paid the ultimate price for that innovation. Very few racers broke even - let alone made a living... for what other reason would we do it? We loved it!
