Tae Kwon Do is a relatively new Korean martial art though its roots are hundreds of years old. Loosely translated Tae Kwon Do means "Way of the Hands and Feet". Tae Kwon Do is a hard and linear style. It uses strong blocks, punches, and kicks to disable an opponent. One facet that distinguishes Tae Kwon Do from other martial arts are the quick and powerful kicking techniques for which Korean arts are known. Tae Kwon Do has several physical and mental benefits. Conditioning, building endurance, and developing muscle tone are just a few of the physical benefits. Increased concentration and focus are just some of the mental benefits.
