CH'AN DAO MARTIAL ARTS ASSOCIATION (禅é“æ¦æœ¯å会) - About CH'AN DAO MARTIAL ARTS ASSOCIATION (禅é“æ¦æœ¯å会) Ch’an Dao Martial Arts Association (禅é“æ¦æœ¯å会) has existed for hundreds of years in the ancestral village of the Chan (陳) Family Clan. The ancestral village is called ‘Banana Village’ (香蕉æ‘) – and is pronounced in the local Hakka-Cantonese dialect ‘Herng Jou Chin’, and in Manderin as ‘Xiang Jiao Cun’. Banana Village is situated in the Sai Kung area of the New Territories of Hong Kong. The style was brought to the UK in 1956 by Grand Master Chan Ting Sang - 陳天生 - (1924-1993). The style lineage is currently held by Shifu Adrian Chan-Wyles in the UK. The style (or school) has a number of names such as ‘Chan Gar Kune’ (陈家拳 – Chen Jia Quan), or ‘Chan Family Fist’, and ‘Sin Do’ (ä»™é“ â€“ Xian Dao), or ‘Immortal Way’. In the mid 1990’s the CDMAA opened its doors to general public for the first time in its history, and began teaching outside of the Chan family and the local Hakka Chinese community in South London.Â
