Welcome to Zen Eikoku Shindo-Ryu Karate-Do Renmei, the governing body for Shindo-Ryu Karate-Do. We have many members in associations throughout East London and Essex (England). The style of Karate-Do was founded in 1984 by Stephen Grayston, who, after many years of training in Kobayashi Shorinryu Karate, Shotokan Karate, and Wado-Ryu Karate felt that all the above systems lacked a western perspective and developed Shindo-Ryu Karate-Do mainly for himself. Within weeks others were requesting tuition and in 1988 the style was taught on a regular 'open' class basis.
