It was also the continuation of breeding and showing horses, which started in 1971. Bald Eagle Ranch still operates the same way. However, after 40 years of these activities one suddenly realizes that age is creeping up on us. With age comes medical conditions, and due to a serious back problem -- which ended up with emergency surgery in March of 2010 -- modifications had to be made accordingly. Even though future horseback riding has not been ruled out, downsizing was a necessity rather than an option.
