Exmoor Ponies for Pleasure or Performance Exmoor Ponies for Pleasure or Performance Exmoor ponies have been a part of our lives for well over 20 years and we are honored to have a part in the conservation of this ancient and endangered pony breed. Exmoor ponies are the oldest and purest of the British Native Pony Breeds and are truly one of the primitive breeds of 'horses' alive today. Unlike so many breeds which have been selectively bred by mankind for a specific purpose, the Exmoor pony has been left to fend for itself over many centuries. The result is an exceptionally hardy pony with an instinctive mothering ability, few health problems and the ability find their own food and shelter on the open windswept moorlands. Do not be fooled, these primitive ponies not only excel at survival, but also make exceptional performance ponies. Exmoors are shown with great success in flat classes; dressage; jumping; Prince Philip Games / pony club; endurance riding and lets not forget driving, be it carriage or cross-country
