Backcountry North of Traverse City and Birmingham, Michigan Sleeping Bear Dunes, Grand Traverse Area Sandy Graham will lead us on an after-dark trek through the Sleeping Bear Dunes.This is one of our favorite (and most challenging) snowshoe hikes in the area; you will hike through Sleeping Bear Dunes battling the wind, cold and dark of night. We schedule this hike around a full moon, but Mother Nature always provides her own fun unexpected twist in the weather. This is a strenuous hike down and back up the dunes and through the forest ridge, so come prepared!
