Waldensians have been present in Italy since mediaeval times. Methodists have been present in Italy since the nineteenth century: co-operation between these two churches increased after the Second World War, culminating in the signing of a Covenant of Federation in 1975. They are members of the World Council of Churches (WCC) and of the Federation of Protestant Churches in Italy.
