Shepherd's Spring Outdoor Ministry Center Shepherd’s Spring Outdoor Ministry Shepherd’s Spring Outdoor Ministry and Retreat Center is a beautiful 220-acre retreat setting of rolling, wooded land along the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal and the Potomac River, just three miles from Antietam National Battlefield near Sharpsburg, MD and about 1.5 hours from Washington, DC. Its mission is to serve as a “source of renewal and place to grow,” fulfilled through year-round programs featuring summer camps for children and youth, programmed as well as unstructured retreats for individuals, religious and educational groups, non-profit and business organizations as well as governmental entities and other outdoor experiences as advantaged by its location to so many area attractions and historic sites.
