Holy Rosary School, 4142 42nd Avenue SW, Seattle, Washington 98116 I slept and dreamt that life was a joy. I awoke and saw that life was service. I acted and behold, service was joy. Ash Wednesday is next week, and, as usual, we will have a special mass in the morning where our students, and any parents who wish, receive ashes. And thus we begin our Lenten journey as a community. This year, we will be incorporating our outreach as a school into our Lenten journey. Each classroom will have mission collections. The class will decide what the money is for. On Holy Thursday, we will have a Morning Prayer service as the day starts. Students will be bringing an item for whatever cause their class has selected as an outreach and every child will be invited to bring in food for the parish food bank. All of these will be brought over to the church during the prayer service and when the prayer service is over, the eighth graders will help deliver the goods and count the money. This helps us incorporate actual hands on outreach activity into our prayer and Lent itself.
