He is currently serving at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Napo-leon Township in Napoleon, Ohio as a Minister-In-Training. When asked about his decision to join the ministry, Dean replied, "Unlike most who pursue pastoral ministry, I am what is known as a 'second career guy.' For most of my adult life I fought with this sense from God that He wanted something 'more' from me, and after 10 or so years of resisting, I was eventually led to Seminary. Although then still unsure where school would take me, I was confident that the Holy Spirit would eventually bring me to discerning His will, what-ever that may be. My journey soon brought me to the realization that my calling was to serve a church. And although this reality is challenging at times, it is also very exciting! ... I finally sense that I've 'come home,' so to speak, following Christ's call to serve Him in this manner. What a privilge, what an honor! Thanks be to God!"
