Welcome to Philosophy | Department of Philosophy | University of Illinois Professor Andy Arana on his appointment as a EURIAS (European Institutes for Advanced Study) fellow at the Mediterranean Institute for Advanced Research (IMéRA) in Marseille, France, for the academic year 2014-15. He will be using that time to pursue research for a monograph on purity of methods. Furthermore, for his recent appointment as an editor of the Review of Symbolic Logic, a journal of the Association for Symbolic Logic that publishes papers on the borders of logic, philosophy, and the sciences (https://journals.cambridge.org/action/displayJournal?jid=RSL). Professor Helga Varden chosen as a recipient of the LAS Dean’s Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching by the LAS Awards Committee! Krista Karbowski Thomason on acceptance of a tenure track position at Swarthmore College! Alexis Dyschkant & Andrew Higgins on the successful publication of their paper, entitled "A Call for Interdisciplinary Collaboration in Philosophy" in the journal Metaphilosophy! Also to Andrew Higgins, Blair Goodlin, and Ian Harmon for completing the defense of their respective Dissertations: "The Nature of Intuitions and their Role in Material Object Metaphysics" (Andrew), "Classical Logic and Its Rivals" (Blair), and "Epistemological Implications of Representational Pluralism" (Ian).
