Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22 :: aw22.org Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22 is one of the oldest Masonic Lodges in the United States. It was founded in February 1783 as Lodge No. 39, under warrant from the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania. Five years later, the Lodge sought and received its charter from the Grand Lodge of Virginia, as Alexandria Lodge No 22, with George Washington listed as its Charter Master. In 1805, the Lodge changed its name to honor its departed brother.
