JPRI Working Paper No. 82, November 2001 POW Forced Labor Lawsuits Against Japanese Companies On Saturday, September 8, 2001, the San Francisco Opera House hosted the 50th anniversary celebration of the signing of the Peace Treaty ending the Allies' war with Japan. However, on September 7, three former prisoners of war, Dr. Lester Tenney (81), Mr. Frank Bigelow (79), and Mr. Edward Jackfert (79) sat in a room filled to capacity in the Palace Hotel in downtown San Francisco where a commemorative seminar on the Peace Treaty was being held.
