Description:National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, February 7th of each year is a national HIV education, testing, leadership, and treatment community mobilization initiative targeted at Blacks throughout the United States and Diaspora.  It was founded in 1999 by five community based organizations funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to provide capacity building assistance to Black communities and organizations. In 2006, Healthy Black Communities, Inc., an Atlanta based international organization begin to serve as the lead organization with LaMont "Montee" Evans serving as the National Coordinator.
