Description: Create a memorial that would remind the public of the never-ending devastation of DWI. The memorial will offer comfort to families of DWI victims and education for those unaware of the problem.
The Memorial of Perpetual Tears is a visible statement to the world expressing what words cannot, portraying US fatalities and injuries caused by Driving While Impaired. The Memorial presents visual evidence of pain and sorrow that cannot be denied. The Memorial offers on site National DWI Victims’ recognition and DWI education, awareness, and prevention. It is also home to the Torrance County Drug Free Communities Initiative, a community coalition dedicated to affect positive environmental change and reduce the rates of substance abuse and DWI.
