Description: The new Programme for International Student Assessment of the OECD, involves dozens of countries testing their 15 year olds' skills and knowledge as they approach the end of compulsory education.
PISA - Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development Girls’ perceptions of themselves as learners of mathematics determine how well they motivate themselves and persevere in the face of difficulties when learning mathematics. They also influence the choices girls make about coursework, additional classes, and even educational and career paths. Many girls choose not to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics because they do not have the confidence in their ability to excel in mathematics, despite having the capacity and skills to do so.
