On April 13, 2001, Washington, D.C.-based animal rights organization Compassion Over Killing (COK) wrote to ISE-America, an egg supplier with facilities in multiple states. COK expressed concern about ISE’s treatment of animals and requested a tour of ISE’s Cecilton, Md., facility, “home” to more than 800,000 hens. ISE did not reply.
