Description: Brief account of the war and impact on the locality in Newfoundland.
The Seven Years' War, 1756-1763: Newfoundland and Labrador Heritage The Seven Years' War, 1756-1763 Britain was at war with Spain, and with France, between 1739 and 1748. The results of that contest was inconclusive, and there was no fighting in Newfoundland - no doubt because the French had lost their base at Placentia. However, Anglo-French relations remained tense, particularly in North America, and a long-expected war broke out in May, 1756.
