Description: A virtual tour through five hundred years of Jewish-American history. Features events and people from the Jews who helped Columbus to Barbra Streisand.
The Jewish-American Hall of Fame was founded by Mel Wacks in 1969 at the Magnes Museum, and became a division of the American Jewish Historical Society in 2001 and the web site came under the auspices of the American Numismatic Society in 2012. Over a million visitors a year take the virtual tour through 500 years of Jewish-American history -- from the Jews who helped Columbus to Barbra Streisand -- illustrated by medals commissioned by the JAHF. You can test your Jewish I.Q. by taking quizzes about the personalities, places and events that have been honored by the Jewish-American Hall of Fame -- baseball great Hank Greenberg, violin virtuoso Isaac Stern, composer George Gershwin, Statue of Liberty poet Emma Lazarus, Israel Prime Minister Golda Meir, Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis, musical genius Leonard Bernstein, humanitarian Elie Wiesel, and many more. You can nominate someone for the Jewish-American Hall of Fame ... and find out why Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe could be inducted. Our award-winning website also features Jewish crossword puzzles and a quiz about Jewish baseball players.
