Carol Thompson's Home Page "Any kind of weather is 'clamming weather', rain or shine "When the tide is low, on a beautiful afternoon, the beaches of the Northwest coast begin to fill up with people carrying shovels, buckets, nets and clam 'guns'. This pastel painting on Canson Mi-Teintes paper is one such scene. I was captivated by the beautiful 'thunderhead' building out over the sea. The clam diggers are miniturized by the huge sky. I painted a large swath of sand and wet beach. Then I painted the people as I remembered them (and from my own 'digging' experience). I added a few dark strips of wet sand and then the reflections.
