I am a retired Iowa DOT employee. I worked for the Iowa DOT for 30 years as a geologist. The first 20 years was spent mostly in the area of classifying aggregates for use in concrete and asphalt. The next five years was spent in developing aggregate classification test methods using x-ray analyses (XRF & XRD), Thermal analysis (TGA) and pore system analysis.
