Description: Facility for non-destructive chemical analyses of solids using a JEOL 8900 Electron Probe Microanalyzer.
> Electron Microprobe Laboratory Please explore our website and learn more about the University of Minnesota's Electron Microprobe Laboratory using the links on the left. The Electron Microprobe Laboratory is a state-of-the-art facility for non-destructive chemical analyses of solids using a JEOL JXA-8900 Electron Probe Microanalyzer. Our electron microprobe is capable of quantitatively measuring the abundance of all elements from Be to U using five automated wavelength-dispersive spectrometers (WDS) and an energy-dispersive spectrometer (EDS) for rapid analyses. This analytical technique combines micron-scale chemical analyses with scanning electron microscopy and is capable of large- and small-scale element mapping of specimens.
