Colorado Plateau Research Station Colorado Plateau Research Station Welcome to Colorado Plateau Research Station The Colorado Plateau Research Station(CPRS) is one of four research stations within the USGS Southwest Biological Science Center. This research station was originally established in 1989 as a National Park Service Cooperative Park Studies Unit at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. It was merged into the USGS in 1996 when the National Biological Service was incorporated into the USGS as the Biological Resources Division. In 1997, the CPRS became part of the USGS Forest & Rangeland Ecosystem Science Center in Corvallis, Oregon and in 2001 it became part of the Southwest Biological Science Center in Flagstaff, Arizona. The CPRS consists of state and federal employees who work in cooperation with such organizations as Northern Arizona University, Grand Canyon National Park, and the Arizona Game & Fish Department. Major categories of research include ecoregional studies and conservation planning; endangered species studies; vegetation distribution, ecology, and dynamics; data management and dissemination; inventory and monitoring studies; and wildlife ecology.
