Description: A project which assesses the potential of acoustic monitoring for evaluating the abundance and health of elephants living in the dense forest.
Elephants are long-lived, intelligent creatures with excellent memories and complex social relationships. Humans and elephants are more alike than we think. Elephants use a variety of calls to express emotion, keep in touch, and pass on other information. ELP discovered that some calls are too low for humans to hear.
