Our laboratory works in the area of human genetic disorders. Most of the research activities currently underway in the group focus on exploring functional roles of certain specific genes in neurological (idiopathic generalized epilepsy/juvenile myoclonic epilepsy; reflex epilepsy/hot water epilepsy and refractory epilepsy) and sensorineural (non-syndromic hearing loss) disorders. We use principles and technologies of molecular genetics, genomics and cell biology to carry out these studies. This work is built up on an exciting interface between clinical sciences and biology and is carried out in collaboration with several medical institutions in the country.
