Red drum, redfish, channel bass, spotail, red bass. is a robust, elongate and moderately compressed Sciaenid that reaches as much as 150 cm (5 feet) in length, and may weigh in excess of 41 kg (90 pounds). The head is straight in profile, with a cone-shaped snout and large, inferior mouth.
