Palm cixiid - Myndus crudus Van Duzee common name: American palm cixiid Van Duzee (Insecta: Hemiptera: Auchenorrhyncha: Fulgoroidea: Cixiidae) Van Duzee, is a planthopper whose adults feed on the foliage of various species of palms. The nymphs of this species develop on roots of grasses. The adult is the only known insect vector of lethal yellowing (LY), a highly destructive disease of palms in Florida and various countries of the Caribbean Basin region.
