Miq., Monogr. Cycad.: 35 (1842) (Fisch. ex Gaudich.) C.A. Gardner, fide L.A.S. Johnson, Proc. Linn. Soc. New South Wales 38 species, in two sections, all endemic in Australia, with 34 in eastern Australia, 1 in central Australia and 3 in the south-west. Recent studies have enumerated a great number of new species, several of which are rare and inaccessible. All newly described taxa have not been fully evaluated, and some changes in the taxonomy of the genus may be expected in the future.
