A slow-growing,large bush or small tree with a broad-conical head. The leaves are deeply five-lobed, glabrous, until 10 cm long and 5 cm wide. They are orange or reddish tinted in autumn. The older twigs get a corky bark. Out of the bark the brown storax will be produced. This shrub is only for mild and sheltered positions.
