Description: General information and classification.
Lantana montevidensis {Verbenaceae} Weeping Lantana The slender, weak stems of this trailing species mound up into a dense mass making it a wonderful plant for a ground cover or low hedge. It grows to a height of 18–36 in (45–90 cm) and a spread of 6 ft (1.8 m) or often much more, with small, neat, closely-veined dark green leaves. Throughout the year, but particularly in summer, it bears bright mauve-pink flowerheads, each with a yellow eye. A white-flowered cultivar has recently appeared and can make an attractive combination planted with the pink.
