Plants of Viñales: a pictorial guide - Jacquinia aculeata Bush 0.5-5 m, minor branches densely lepidote, leaves in 3-10 whorls, almost directly attached, ovate-lanceolate to ovate, 2-4 cm, 3-10 mm wide, pointed and spiny-mucronate at apex, base rounded to obtuse, rarely pointed, spotted-lepidote; inflorescence terminal, with 2-5 flowers, pedicels filiform, 1.5-2 cm, bracts small; flowers 5 mm, calyx 2 mm, sepals rounded, cilialate; lobes of corolla oval, 1.5-2 mm; berry red, globous, 6 mm, with 2-4 seeds.
