Photograph by G. M. Mueller, © 2003 in Costa Rica and on oak and other hardwoods in North America. The species has long pendant spines that originate from a slightly branched base. White at first but developing pinkish ochre colors with age. The specimen illustrated here was found in Tapanti National Park on a downed oak log.
