Description: Photograph and information on this species from the montane scrub of Ecuador.
Photograph by R. E. Halling, © 2003 This taxon was originally described based on material found in the páramo of Ecuador. It belongs in the same section with but can be distinguished by the waxy odor and taste. Microscopically it differs by having short and obscure cheilocystidia. Presently known from the páramo of Ecuador and Costa Rica.
