Description: Photograph and the identifying features of this species.
Photograph by R. E. Halling, © 1997 This taxon was just recently described (Brittonia 48: 490-491. 1996). It belongs in the same section with but can be distinguished by the uniformly slender stature, rapidly fading pileus, and persistently orange stipe. Microscopically it differs by having longer spores and short clavate cheilocystidia. It occurs in the montane neotropics and can be found occasionally in oak forests. Presently known from Ecuador, Colombia, and the Talamancas of Costa Rica.
