Plants of Viñales: a pictorial guide - Encyclia cochleata Pseudo-bulbs oblong-fusiform, flattened, dicotyledonous, 6-16 cm; leaves slightly membranous, pointed, 15-35 cm long, 2-4 cm wide; peduncle 15-30 cm, with 4-8 flowers and spathe of 4-8 cm at base; bracts acuminate, 5-10 mm; flowers fragrant, pallid green, with purple-black labellum; sepals and petals linear-lanceolate, largely acuminate, 3-4 cm; labellum broadly heart-shaped to orbicular, 11-15 mm.
