Virus safety - good
Description: Research project by Meagan Arnold on this bacterium including its general characteristics, adaptations, habitat, phylogeny, taxonomy, applications and other radiation resistant organisms.
Even though this organism may be small, does not mean that it is weak.  is a bacteria that can withstand large doses of radiation and can survive in a desiccator for up to six weeks.  A rough translation of the name comes out to be "strange berry that can withstand radiation."  It has also affectionately been deemed the nickname, "Conan the Bacterium" after Conan the barbarian.  Both names are very fitting due to this bacteria's extreme hardiness.  Its viability is not only interesting, it can be downright useful.  Please browse this page to learn about how amazing one little bacterium can be!
