Cupressus macrocarpa (Monterey cypress) description A relatively large tree in habitat, at Point Lobos, California [C.J. Earle, 1998.03.13]. The species is called simply "macrocarpa" in New Zealand, where the largest known specimen occurs; this one, in Yatton Park, Tauranga, is probably larger than any American tree [C.J. Earle, 2003.03.02].
