means "running camel". Camelus is Latin of camel and Dromeus is Greek for runner. also has many common names such as camel, one-humped camel, dromedary, dromedary camel, and Arabian camel. This animal is one of the few organisms that has been completely domesticated (4000-2000 B.C.E.). The closest one could achieve to studying the Arabian camel in the wild is the feral camels in Australia. The feral camels of Australia were once imported and domesticated, but eventually released into the Australian wilderness.
