Photograph by R. E. Halling ©, 2004 This taxon was first described by Charles Peck from the northeastern USA and seems to be infrequent there. When young, the pores are deep maroon colored and fade with age to a dull yellow. The stipe lacks any sort of reticulate ornamentation, but instead is glabrous or rarely finely pruinose over a pale yellow ground color; deep rhubarb red colors progressively move up the stipe with age. All parts of the basidioma change to a deep blue green when injured. The flesh is yellow. We have collected this entity at several sites in the Cordillera Talamanca associated with
