Plants of Viñales: a pictorial guide - Adiantum fragile Stem short, thick, often branching several times, densely covered with brown-yellow scales, these are deltate-attenuate to linear-lanceolate, 1-3 mm long, margin denticulate, ciliate, with filiform apex; leaves in ascending or decumbent fascicles, 15-60 cm long; petiole lustrous brown-purple, shorter than leaf, cylindrical, glabrous; leaf-surface ovate-lanceolate, 10-45 cm long, 4-18 cm wide, 3-4 pinnate at base; final segments obovate-cuneate, 7-15 mm long, 5-10 mm wide, with petiolules; organism delicately herbaceous, light green, growing alone or in pairs, in slightly prominent lobes, marginal; reflex margin light brown, slightly translucent towards margin.
