- Biogeography Specialty Group
- Formed to promote interaction among biogeographers, stimulate active research and teaching development in biogeography and facilitate the exchange of ideas.
- 2
- UCSB Biogeography Lab
- Established to conduct basic and applied research on the ecology, distribution and conservation status of species and ecosystems with the aid of geographic information systems and remote sensing.

- Ecosystems Classification and Mapping
- The World Institute for Conservation and Environment, WICE, provides information, tools and resources.
- 4
- Images of the Dry Tropics
- Photographs of plants, animals, and landscapes from dry tropical habitats in the Americas, Africa, Madagascar, and Asia. Dry tropical habitat types include tropical dry forest, tropical deciduous forest, thorn forest, spiny desert, savannah, cerrado, and caatinga.
- 6

- Provides ecotoxicology testing products and services. Describes the Lemna (duckweed) bioassay test for detecting and evaluating hazardous substances in ecosystems.
- 7
- Pequitec
- Specialists for the supply and construction of ecotoxicology testing equipment and agricultural research equipment.
- 8
- Unknown Contaminant Found In Seabird Eggs
- Researchers found an unidentified organohalogen contaminant in the eggs of Atlantic and Pacific Ocean seabirds. If a marine organism is the source, this would be the first instance of a naturally produced organohalogen accumulating in the eggs of wild birds. (December 11, 1998)
- 9
- Centre for the Study of Evolution - University of Sussex
- A distinguished research group founded by the eminent Prof John Maynard-Smith. The group runs both under and post graduate courses on evolution and an 'all welcome' weekly seminar series.

- A fully referenced devotion to the study of branching in nature i.e. organisms containing branching networks (corals and octocorals), and the tools to study branching.
- 13
- The Evolution of Dispersal
- Nicholas Friedenberg has demonstrated the evolution of dispersal experimentally using the soil nematode C. elegans.
