Description: BTC provides cutting-edge genomics research services for academic and commercial research projects
The Roy J. Carver Biotechnology Center provides a state-of-the-art research infrastructure to investigators. Our portfolio includes the following core research facilities: Transgenic Mouse, Flow Cytometry, Metabolomics, Protein Sciences, Translational Resource Center, Functional Genomics, DNA Services, and High-Performance Biological Computing (HPCBio). In the past year, we provided genomic and proteomic research services to over 250 University of Illinois faculty research programs representing 40 different departments, as well as principal investigators from 62 other universities (including Harvard, John Hopkins, Miami, Northwestern, Ohio State, Purdue, Stanford, UC Berkeley, UC Davis, and the Universities of Chicago, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, Rochester, Wisconsin...). During FY2013, our research labs supported 131 NIH, 59 corporate, 51 USDA, 46 foundation, 46 private gift, 44 NSF, 25 federal land grant, 16 DOE, 16 Illinois government, and 10 other U.S. government agency funded sponsored projects. In calendar year 2012, our work was acknowledged or staff recognized as co-author in over 140 publications (a gross underestimate) in over 60 international journals.
